Compliance

You are worried this is illegal, creepy, or both.

That is the right thing to worry about, and skipping past it would be the worst thing we could do. Here is exactly what LeadSpyder does on your behalf, what it will not do, and why the line between the two is built into the product rather than left to your judgment.

This page describes our compliance posture in plain language. It is not legal advice. We describe the principles we follow, but any specific legal question about your business should go to your attorney for review.

What creates actual exposure, then?

The exposure comes from doing it without disclosure, not from doing it at all. A business that identifies visitors and never tells them, through a privacy policy, that it may do so, is the one at risk. The identification itself is not the problem. The silence is.

That is why disclosure is not optional in our setup. We supply the language and the opt-out link, you certify you added them, and we verify afterward. Read our privacy policy for the full disclosure framework.

What LeadSpyder does on your behalf.

Automated follow-up is email, and it is CAN-SPAM compliant. Every send carries real sender details, a physical mailing address, and a working unsubscribe link. No anonymous sends, no spoofed headers, no hidden opt-out. If a person wants off the list, one click removes them.

This is the standard for lawful commercial email in the United States, and we hold it on every send the product places for you.

What LeadSpyder deliberately will not do.

LeadSpyder will not text an identified visitor before that person replies, submits a form, or calls. A website visit is not consent to text. Treating it as consent is how businesses get into trouble, so we removed the option. The text channel only switches on after the visitor has taken an action that shows they want to hear from you.

This restraint is built into the product. It is not a setting you can turn on, and it is not left to your judgment. The line is drawn in the code.

Why calls are placed by your own team, never an automated dialer.

Phone outreach is placed by the customer's own team, never an automated dialer. An automated dialer calling people who did not ask to be called is a different legal category than a human picking up the phone. LeadSpyder gives your team the name, the number, and the topic. A person on your side makes the call.

This keeps the outreach in the category your business already operates in, rather than pushing it into a regulated one.

U.S. visitors only, and what is not matched.

Identification covers U.S. visitors only. International traffic, bot traffic, and some device types are not matched. On average, LeadSpyder identifies 30% or more of non-bot, U.S.-based website traffic. Results vary by site.

We do not promise to identify everyone, and we do not try. The match rate is honest because the boundaries are honest. See the full facts.

The privacy policy disclosure, step by step.

During setup the customer receives disclosure language and an opt-out link for their privacy policy. The customer certifies they added it. We verify afterward. This is not a checkbox we hand you and forget. The disclosure is what makes the identification lawful for your visitors, so we confirm it is in place before the account is fully live.

The trial clock starts when the connection test passes, not at checkout. Nothing is live before that point.

The outreach rule, stated as a rule.

Never tell a prospect you saw them on your website. The product gives you good timing and a relevant topic, not a license to say you were watching. Here is the difference, side by side.

Value-first opener

"Hi, this is Sarah with [practice]. I help homeowners with AC repairs this time of year. Do you have a few minutes to talk through what a service call looks like?"

Offers help with the problem. Opens a conversation. Works.

Surveillance-sounding opener

"Hi, I noticed you were on our pricing page looking at AC repairs. I wanted to reach out."

References the browsing. Sounds like watching. Ends the relationship before it starts.

The first opener works because it offers value and names a topic the prospect cares about. The second fails because it tells the prospect they were being watched. You know what they researched. They do not need to know how you know. Read the full outreach guide.
