Cookieless Identification

Cookieless identification matches website visitors to real people without placing tracking cookies on their devices. It relies on network and behavioral signals cross-referenced against an identity graph. It works independently of cookie consent banners and browser cookie blocking.

How it works in practice

Instead of reading a cookie on a device, the pixel collects signals from the session itself, like network data and browsing behavior, and matches them against a graph of real people. No file is written to the visitor's device, so there is nothing for a browser to block or a consent banner to gate. The match happens on the signals the session produces, not on a stored identifier.

What it is commonly confused with

It is commonly confused with cookie-based tracking, which depends on a file the browser can refuse or delete. Cookie-based tracking loses accuracy as browsers block third-party cookies, and it breaks entirely when a visitor declines a consent banner. Cookieless identification can be more accurate, because it does not break when cookies are blocked, and it does not depend on a choice the visitor makes about a banner.

Why it matters to a business owner

Third-party cookies are going away, and tools that depend on them are losing data every month. Cookieless identification is the method that keeps working, so your match rate does not collapse as the major browsers finish phasing out third-party cookies. A business that buys a cookie-based tool today is buying a shrinking identification rate that will only get worse.

Pixel

A pixel is a small piece of code, usually one line of JavaScript, placed on your website to collect data from visitor sessions. The LeadSpyder pixel is cookieless and installs in under 10 minutes the same way you would install an analytics tag.

Lead Scoring

Lead scoring is the practice of ranking contacts by their likelihood to buy so a sales team knows who to call first. In visitor identification, the score is based on real-time browsing behavior, not on a form someone may or may not have filled out.

Bounce Rate

Bounce rate is the percentage of visitors who leave your site after viewing only one page and taking no action. A high bounce rate means people arrive, see one page, and go. It tells you nothing about who those people were or whether they were ready to buy.

SpyderScore

SpyderScore is a real-time intent rating from 0 to 100 assigned to every identified visitor. It is calculated from behavioral signals: pages visited, session depth, scroll behavior, time on site, and return visits. Scores of 80 and above trigger an instant alert to your team.
