Pixel

A pixel is a small piece of code, usually one line of JavaScript, placed on your website to collect data from visitor sessions. The LeadSpyder pixel is cookieless and installs in under 10 minutes the same way you would install an analytics tag.

How it works in practice

You copy one line of code into your site header or footer, before the closing head tag. Once live, it collects network and behavioral signals from every session and sends them to the identification engine. No cookies are placed on the visitor's device, so it works regardless of browser cookie settings or ad blockers. A live connection test confirms it is firing before your account goes live.

What it is commonly confused with

It is commonly confused with a tracking cookie, which is a file placed on a visitor's device that the browser can refuse or delete. A cookieless pixel is not a cookie. It collects signals from the session without placing a file, which is why it keeps working as browsers block third-party cookies. The confusion matters because a cookie-based pixel loses data on every visitor who blocks cookies.

Why it matters to a business owner

The pixel is the single point of installation, so setup is fast and the maintenance is zero. If it required cookies, it would break for every visitor who blocks them, which is a growing share. Because it is cookieless, your identification rate holds up as the web moves away from cookies, and you do not lose matches on the visitors most likely to use ad blockers.

Reverse IP Lookup

Reverse IP lookup is an older identification method that takes a visitor's IP address and looks up the company that owns it. It returns a business name, not a person. It is not what LeadSpyder relies on, because it cannot identify individual consumers.

Cookieless Identification

Cookieless identification matches website visitors to real people without placing tracking cookies on their devices. It relies on network and behavioral signals cross-referenced against an identity graph. It works independently of cookie consent banners and browser cookie blocking.

Buying Intent

Buying intent is the demonstrated likelihood that a person is close to making a purchase, inferred from their behavior rather than their stated interest. A visitor who reads your pricing page twice and returns the next day shows higher buying intent than one who bounces from the homepage.

Identity Graph

An identity graph is a large database that links signals, like IP addresses and device fingerprints, to real people with verified contact information. LeadSpyder's identity graph contains over 269 million U.S. profiles, which is what makes person-level matching possible.
